With the 2010 Political season ramping up, Scott County Republicans (SCRs) are as active as ever.  On February 2nd SCRs will participate in our Precinct Caucuses which will begin the process of selecting our Local, Statewide, and National GOP candidates for this November's Election.

And our party has never been more energized!  With the dramatic upset in the Massachusetts Senate race sending shock-waves across the county, the efforts in Scott County are centered around amplifying the message of responsible government.  Today our State Representative from HD35B (Savage, Jordan and Spring Lake Park), Mark Buesguens was published in the Letter to the Editor section of the Star Tribune print edition.

Additionally, the Chair of The Scott County Republicans, Brad Johnson was interviewed by The Shakopee Valley News.  You can read his comments here.  Johnson's message of GOP activism came through loud and clear as he pointed out that one person can make a difference.

At our most recent Executive Committee Meeting several of our members came as guests to voice their support and volunteer to help continue this tidal wave of excitement.  While the DFL continues to bring the same tired solution of tax and spend, SCRs know that the time is now to help steer this State and Country towards the conservative principles we hold dear.

You want to reduce high Taxes.  Remember your home’s real estate tax bill and think about the school assessment, the city and the county.   Renters are involved also as ~15% of the rent goes to paying the realty tax..1   The tax is up over the last few years and the government spent it.  The realty tax is obvious, think about all the other tax increases that you pay:

  • sales (6.5% up to 6.85% last year) 2,
  • fees (up 19% from 2003)3
  • gas tax (20 cents to 28 cents per gallon by a veto override)4,
  • estate (at 40-50% as we just one of five states not to follow the Federal example),
  • Medical Tax of 2% paid by practitioners not itemized in your bill, I’ll bet you did not know that one
  • Lodging tax, Car rental Fees, Airport tax, Surcharges, Wheelage Tax, Met council SAC charges (5% increase)5, etc..
